Overview
Cisco Systems Routers
The Cisco 1600 series is a low-cost option for flexible Internet/intranet
access for small branch offices and small businesses. In addition to
one fixed WAN and one Ethernet port, it supports one modular WAN interface
card, allowing customers to add or change WAN ports as needed. WAN
options include ISDN, leased lines (T1/E1), Frame Relay, Switched 56,
Switched Multimegabit Data Service (SMDS), and X.25. The Cisco 1600
also provides VPN capabilities based on IPSec and the DES encryption
standard. Other security features, such as firewall functionality,
can be enabled via Cisco IOS.
The Cisco 1700 series Modular Access Router delivers fast, reliable, and secure
Internet and network access through various high-speed WAN access technologies.
This is ideal for enterprise branch offices and small and medium-sized businesses,
the Cisco 1700 series modular design provides the flexibility to meet demanding
and evolving business requirements by offering high-speed broadband and leased-line
access, comprehensive security, and multi-service data and voice integration.
The Cisco 2500 series of ethernet and token ring routers provide a wide range
of branch office solutions including integrated router/hub and router/access
server models. The Cisco 2500 series routers with Cisco IOS software offer
routing support for todays widely used network protocols, including IP, Novell
IPX, and AppleTalk, and a wide range of routing protocols.
The Cisco 2600 series is an award-winning family of modular multi-service
access routers, providing flexible LAN and WAN configurations, multiple security
options, voice/data integration, and a range of high performance processors.
This range of features makes the Cisco 2600 family the ideal branch-office
router for today’s and tomorrow's customer requirements. As companies
grow, the diversity of protocols, increased performance, LAN media, WAN services,
and networking equipment required to support mission-critical network services
expand dramatically. With extensive support for multi-protocol data routing,
voice/data integration, DSL access, ATM, dial access services, and integrated
switching, the Cisco 2600 series provides a flexible, scalable integrated solution
that simplifies the process of deploying and managing the branch office network
solutions.
The Cisco 3600 series is an ideal upgrade to branches that have outgrown their
current routing hardware and require the next generation of hardware for their "power
branch" applications. The flexibility of the Cisco 3600 series enables
you to support a variety of solutions for the power branch office environment.
No matter how much your requirements may vary from place to place, the Cisco
3600 platform has the performance and diversity to meet your needs at a very
cost-effective price. For instance, a branch office using ISDN to connect to
the main office may require dedicated Frame Relay service in a years time with
increased traffic on the network—without a forklift upgrade in the wiring
closet. As a multifunction solution, you can rely upon the outstanding performance,
reliability, security, and flexibility of the Cisco 3600 series platform to
meet your needs for many years. Multiple devices become quite expensive to
manage, configure, and support when compared to a single, multifunction device
with integrated management, configuration, and single vendor support.
The Cisco 7200 series is the industry’s most widely deployed universal
services router for Enterprise and Service Provider edge applications. The
Cisco 7200 combines exceptional price/performance with the widest range of
connectivity options and unmatched feature support. This compact router provides
industry-leading serviceability and manageability features coupled with high-performance
modular processors including the Cisco 7200 NPE-G1 Processor. By leveraging
the modularity of the Cisco 7200, customers can deploy scalable solutions to
address a wide range of density, performance, and service requirements while
ensuring investment protection for future network needs.
